This story we read is called “Eleven”. The story was written by Sandra Cisneros. It is about a girl named Rachel, her birthday was ruined because her teacher made her wear a dirty jacket at school. I think Rachel is a believable character because she doesn’t want to wear a dirty jacket, she cries because the teacher is being unfair to her, and she is also credible because she calls Phyllis Lopez stupid because she didn’t tell the teacher it was her jacket. Rachel is a credible character because she doesn’t want to wear a dirty smelly jacket that’s not even hers. Rachel gets embarrassed because she has to wear a nasty jacket “…there with my arms apart as if the sweater hurts me and it does, all itchy and full of germs that aren’t even mine“. This proves she is believable because no one would want to wear a smelly jacket. Rachel is believable because she cries when the teacher is being unfair to her. “…finally lets go, and all of a sudden I’m crying in front of everybody”, this proves she is credible because its not fair for Mrs.Price to make Rachel wear something that isn’t even hers. I think Rachel is credible because it’s likely for any child to cry when the teacher is being unfair to them especially on their birthday. Another reason why Rachel is credible is because she calls Phyllis Lopez stupid.
“That stupid Phyllis Lopez, who is even dumber than Felice Garcia, says she remembers the red sweater is hers!” This proves Rachel is credible because she is mad at Phyllis for not saying in class that it was her sweater. Honestly, I would do the same as Rachel if I was mad at someone for not saying the truth. I think it was mean of Phyllis to do that because she could just have said in class it was her jacket instead of letting Rachel cry. I think Rachel is credible because she can be compared to a real child. She is credible because she doesn’t want to wear a dirty jacket, and she cries because the teacher is being unfair to her, and she also calls Phyllis Lopez stupid. These things make her credible because no one would want to wear a dirty smelly sweater, or being treated unfair on your birthday, lastly its reasonable to call Phyllis stupid because she should have said the jacket was hers.
